Destroying blocks in Survival (after Creative) doesn't drop the blocks

I worked on this map since the snapshots before 1.8 got released (which is nearly a year ago now) and have had no problems until recently. Whenever I switch from Creative to Survival and destroy a block (a pumpkin or a block of wood as an example while testing the map), I go to break a block and the block disappears and drops no item instead. I have been playing and making the game in Creative mode mainly and using just the Optifine 1.8.1 mod or 1.8.7 version. I have also been using MCEdit 1.3.3 in various places. It may be a problem from the game but it might also be a clash with one of the above tools

Create a new world in vanilla Minecraft.
Switch to creative, place some Pumpkins,
switch to survival, destroy them.
If the Pumpkins don't drop too, please zip and attach the world here, if the Pumkins drop, then the 3rd party tools and mods have destroyed the world.

I went to a "test area" creative world which was not altered by MCEdit and had the same problem (pumpkins not dropping) but I started a brand new world in Creative and the Pumpkins dropped in survival. I believe the map has been destroyed from MCEdit but I find that hard to believe. Optifine is also unlikely to cause the world to be broken. Nevertheless I have found an alternative which is that I place a pumpkin in an item frame and the player can take it in survival. It looks ugly but it's better than nothing. Thank you for your help and apologies for a waste of a ticket.

You might have switched a gamerule - Try

/gamerule doTileDrops true

.

Oh! I never knew about that gamerule! That actually worked! Thanks a lot! Next time I have a problem, I'll Wiki it 🙂.
