[MC-83066] Holding torches in off hand

When holding torches in your offhand, you cannot place blocks, for it places a torch instead

I cannot confirm this issue.

I can confirm I have seen this behaviour. It's not a bug.
Holding torches in the left hand does not prevent you from placing blocks.

When you (partially) occupy an air block, you cannot place blocks, but
instead a torch will be placed.

Work-around: move back a little until the entire space is free.
