Throwing eggs doesn't seem to work on some blocks

When throwing eggs on some blocks the eggs just seem to dissappear, move to another block and the appear to be working correctly.

What I expected to happen was...:
Should work all the time

What actually happened was...:
Eggs just dissapear when thrown no matter how many thrown no baby chickens appear & no splash effect when thrown. Has happened on grass, dirt & sand.

Steps to Reproduce:
Difficult to say how to reproduce the bug as it only appears to happen in certain areas
