It is not a duplicate. I experience no FPS loss at all unless the settings I specified are on. My bug report ONLY applies to the scenario I highlighted. It is about smooth lighting. Check Dinnerbone's twitter and you will see that he was wondering about smooth lighting lag. It is separate.

Can you vote up comments? If not, then how are issues about separate things
to get recognition if they are buried in text?

This is why you search before creating a new issue, can have a lot more informations on the comments.

So the devs have to read all of the comments to learn about each of the
issues? It seems like you are actually making the tool harder for then to
use.

Did you read the topics name of that which you are duplicating? It is literally called 'FPS Drop due to Smooth Lighting'. Made the same mistake I did, but your in denial.

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't called that before. I can't say for certain,
because I never capture the screen or anything, but I'm pretty sure. Even
the mod told me that it was a dupe because the same issue was mentioned in
the comments. And the page I'm apparently duplicating says that it was
updated today, before you commented.

Aside from all of that, though. I do acknowledge that I may be wrong, but
unless I knew that I was wrong and fought anyway, how am I in denial and
not just mistaken?
