I decided to update my 1.8 survival world (which was originally 1.7) and i went into my secret underground library and tried to flip my secret lever to access my secret storage room and i couldn't click through the sideways stair that I could click through before updating, so i panicked for a bit and decided to remove the stair altogether until i can come up with a better solution or see if it's a bug, i set up a demonstration so i can take pictures for this bug report and found if a leave a visual gap in the blocks you can click through it making me believe it's not a bug and making this whole bug report redundant :/

How is the original feature (Meaning the clicking through stairs before snapshots) a bug? isn't that something that's been around since 1.3 when they overhauled stairs? (and i use the term "overhauled" loosely)
Well as it was in for a few versions many players (me included) thought it would be like the quasi connectivity and wouldn't be fixed, but apparently Mojang have other ideas.
Well, I guess it's kind of like the Item Elevators in that sense (Luckily for me, I could never figure the things out). For now, I'm going to build a BUD switch for my door once I figure out a good design that'll fit nicely
If you want a hidden design, I can recommend a redstone lock. They need a wall but they are much easier to hide than BUDs. Just look on YouTube.
I believe this bug/feature was fixed a few weeks ago. Sadly WAI.
