step one, go to the end
step two, defeat the ender dragon
step three, enter the new end area via mini portal
step 4, place bed on end stone
step 5, sleep in bed and destroy everything around you

Works as intended. There'a no night or day in the End or the Nether, so the bed's not sure if it should let you rest or not and decides to blow up instead.
