Resource Packs no longer work

Resource Packs that worked in previous snapshots no longer work in the latest ones.

What I expected to happen was...:
I created a resource pack with custom music for an adventure map. I wrote a JSON for them. And converted the songs to OGG. This I compressed it to a ZIP folder and placed it in the save file of my world. It worked almost perfectly in all snapshots previous to 16w02a. I expected it to keep working.

What actually happened was...:
It stopped working as soon as I updated to 16w02a. Now I cant figure out how to fix it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. take a song around 3 minutes and convert it to OGG.
2. Create a Resource pack folder tree and add put the converted song into the "sounds" folder.
3. Write a JSON that is similar to the attached. Providing the name of the sound file and set to "stream".
4. Zip the resource pack folder and name it "resources.zip" place it in the save file of a world and open the world.
5. Use the /playsound command to try and play the sound according to the name you gave it in the JSON.
6. It should say it played the sound but not make any noise.

Intended. The /playsound command has a new syntax http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Commands#playsound

I tried that. I changed all my commands to: /playsound <sound name> record @a ~ ~ ~ 1000
But it still doesn't work.

The <source> option tells you what volume slider the sound uses. If the <source> is "record" and your "Jukebox/Noteblocks" volume slider is muted, you won't hear the sound.

All of my volume is at 100%

I'll need more detail. I have no problem with sounds in these snapshots. Can you send me the resourcepack?

I tried it with the new pack.mcmeta file and it worked. Some text editors do weird things with pack.mcmeta files. I use atom (https://atom.io) for text editing, and it handles pack.mcmeta files just fine. I know textedit does weird things to pack.mcmeta files, however you're on a PC. I'm not sure how text editors such as notepad++ handle them.

That appears to have been the problem. That song now works. It is weird to me that it was the pack.mcmeta tho...I haven't changed it at all since I made it back in the early snapshots...huh, whatever. Glad it is working now. Thank you so much for all your help!

notepad++ is apparently the best for writing these kinda of files. I should get it. right now I am just using regular notepad and its probably causeing problems. Thanks again for all your help. I really appreciate it๐Ÿ™‚

You had a JSON error in your pack.meta file. You had a stray comma at the end of a curly bracket but no keys after it. You can validate your JSON using a generic validator such as this one: http://jsonlint.com/

oh, okay. gees, big problems from one little json error. thank you for that site. I will make sure to use it all the time now. lol
