1. I threw one egg into a pen and it gave birth to nothing
2. I threw a second egg into the pen and it gave birth to a single chicken
3. I threw a third egg, which hit the baby chicken I previously hatched, and that egg gave birth to 7 more baby chickens
I was able to duplicate the issue and made a 10 second clip of it in creative mode as well. So it's not just a survival issue.

Please keep privacy set to public unless there is a good reason otherwise (confidential information, exploit, security issue, etc). The less people who can look at the issue, the slower it'll be until anyone can deal with it.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
I read the wiki on chicken eggs and it says part of this feature is intended. The video shows 4 chickens being hatched which actually is possible, but the first case in which I witnessed it hatched 7 chickens, not 4 (which the wiki says is the maximum).
