Melee mobs ont attack players properly

When on a multi-player server mini-zombies attack you once then sort of "freeze" for a long time and just bump into you rather than to continue to attack you. (Note: will unfreeze them if you attack them back (sort of like pigman?!))

Happens in singleplayer too. I imagine it might be a hitbox thing; one the baby gets right next to you, hit hitbox may intersect yours, at which point perhaps he thinks he no longer has line-of-sight to attack? So he just stands there right next to you. Dunno, just speculating.

Confirmed in Singleplayer for all melee mobs (Zombie, Baby Zombie, Zombie Pigman, Baby Zombie Pigman, Enderman, Silverfish, Endermite, Spider, Cave Spider (with no poison via command block), Hostile Wolf, small Magma Cube) beside medium and large Slimes/Magma Cubes, as they can't stop and always push you.
Interesting thing about small Magma Cube: it pushes a player slightly, but can only damage if the player moves to it.
Steps to reproduce:

  1. Type in chat

    /effect @p minecraft:regeneration 9999 1
  2. (if you confirm for cave spider) Setup a repeating command block with this command

    /effect @p minecraft:poison 0
  3. Summon a mob on a flat area

  4. Get hurt, but don't move by yourself
At some point the mob will stop damaging you

I remember seeing some other bug saying mobs attack the center of a block, so if you stand in corner/intersection of 4 blocks, they can't melee you, but I can't find that bug # right now.

Brian McNamara you mean MC 89938?
