When I try to move my character around, it turns noticeably slower than in the current release. It is yet even slower when my character is in Flight or Running. This problem causes it to be hard to maneuver the player around the minecraft world, and could cause trouble on PVP or when fighting monsters.

is it that you may have pressed F8 by mistake?
Maybe try to adjust the Sensitivity to a higher level, this will help.
