When the new launcher overhaul version became available, my then current launcher told me to restart Minecraft for it to automatically install the update, but not only did that not work, but restarting my OS didn't work either, and when trying to reinstall the launcher entirely (to install with the latest version right out of the bat) the launcher wouldn't boot up at all, giving me the message "Unable to start the Minecraft Runtime Enviroment. This is most likely caused by a corruption. Please try to reinstall Minecraft.". I tried using the installer's repair feature, it didn't fix the issue, i tried reinstalling it altogether, didn't fix it either.

Done, just added it.

Hi - we just released a new version of the Launcher. Because yours seems unable to update itself, please try uninstalling and then installing a new version from the download page on minecraft.net. If that still does not work, please attach a new launcher_log.txt.

Still experiencing the same issue, except it now also gives a pop-up that says "Couldn't load launcher core from C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecrafr Launcher\game\launcher.dll: LoadErrorNotPresent". Uploaded both a screencap of it and the most recent launcher log.
If it's of any help, it used to take about 5 minutes for the error popup to show up, now it shows up almost immediately.
Thank you for your report!
However, MCL-11754, which seems to report the same issue, has gotten a lot of traction and a confirmation status, so I'll be forward-resolving this as a Duplicate.
If this is still an issue for you, please move over there instead. 🙂

Hello! We're sorry you're experiencing this problem. In order to diagnose the problem, we need to look at your launcher log file. It's called launcher_log.txt, and can be found in your Minecraft folder. Please attach it to this bug report.
