It won't launch the actual game

OK so there is a new launcher clearly. Now, its similar to the other one where you just have to click play and the launcher is gone then the game loads up. When I press play the launcher goes way and the small white load screen comes up as usual. It then closes itself down before getting to the "home page" where you choose single or multiplayer etc. It reopens the launcher and tells me the game has crashed and I should try using a "lowerresolution resourcepack". Now I have looked through the launcher and there is NO WHERE to turn off my resource pack and the only possible way to change it is when the game is launched, which it cannot do for some reason.
