While the new launcher itself is now capable of being displayed very clearly on a retina display, OLDER versions of the minecraft .jar being run from it on a retina display are blurred.
Selecting "Release 1.5.1" or "Release 1.5.2" from the newest MinecraftDev.app launcher launches the game in a blurred state - all text is blurred and apparently pixel-doubled?
Selecting any of the 1.6 snapshots however, shows no signs of problem.
The old launcher does not blur 1.5.1 or prior versions on retina macs - it displays correctly.

same problem for me, i hope its not in new minecraft versions as well, it also got me massive input lags 😞
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
-*-*WORK AROUND*--*
A work around is to run the game in fullscreen mode. I have found that this fixes this issue. If you try to run the game in a windowed mode, it will look blurry and lag quite a bit. However, there is no option to run the game in full screen mode on some older versions, and trying to press F11 to get it out of full screen worked, but trying to press F11 to put it in full screen does not, so what I do is launch the latest version of the game and turn on full screen there and then quit the game. I then open the older version I want and it runs in full screen with no problems, just stay out of running Minecraft in a windowed mode when using any older versions of Minecraft.
I managed to reproduce it and then it 'went away' (as in that they both looked identical). No idea what is causing this.
It's very likely we'll never end up fixing this because we cannot change the old versions.
