[MCL-13653] Certain versions don't launch

Whenever I launch a version of minecraft under 1.13.2, it crashes saying "An unexpected issue has occured and the game has crashed. We're sorry for the inconvenience." I try too look at the logs, but some of the characters are missing somehow. I really want to play 1.12.2 but I can't. Please help!

Update: I fixed it by installing java 8 and executing the game with java 8 instead of 11.

Make sure you use the built in java version (it will always be correct)
