Launcher UI does not respect its own minimum width

When resizing the Minecraft Launcher it does not normally allow you to resize the Window Width smaller than ~1000px (or 1002px in my case).

SEE Launcher_minwidth

However for those Portrait 900x1440 monitor the launcher does not respect this when Maximizing.

SEE Launcher_maximized

This causes elements like the Skin page to be cut off as they are expecting the window to respect it's minimum width.

SEE Launcher_skins

This issue likely affects those on lower resolution landscape devices as well.

Hi Robert, thanks for bringing this up to our attention. When the launcher was designed we took a decision to have it support minimum 1000px in width, which is also why you can't shorten it more. This would fit on 1024x1280 monitors.

As you mention, there are people who use other, smaller, resolution displays too. I have brought it up with the team, and we will look into fixing the skin management and make it more responsive for the lower-end displays, and perhaps look at how other pages in the launcher too. Thanks for reporting this!

I resize my windows to 1440x900. It's a shame that I can't do this with the Minecraft Launcher.

I haven't played Minecraft in years and only played it again this year. Is the launcher now Electron? It feels so clunky and feels like a major regression 😞

Hi there!
Could you answer few questions regarding this issue, it will help with the investigation:

  • Does this issue still occurs to you on newest version of Launcher?

  • Have you tried to install Launcher from the minecraft.net? website/MS store?

  • Is your Windows and associated apps (Xbox app, MS store) up-to-date?

  • Is your graphic card drivers up-to-date?

This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.
