Something went wrong in the login process.

I just had this problem after migrating my mojang acount 2 days ago, the solution for me was to open the Microsoft store, and it asked for my pasword again, then tried the microsoft login  in the launcher and this time it worked

 It just fixed itself on its own. I'm guessing a server was down.

I am experiencing this problem as well. I migrated my account to Microsoft and all worked fine for a few days. Two days ago I opened the launcher and it logged me out when I pressed play. It has not let me in since. When I click on Microsoft Login, it loads for a second or two and gives me the error, "Something went wrong in the login process." When I click Mojang Login, it will take me to the login screen, but when I enter my old Mojang account information, it says my account has been migrated and won't let me in. When I try to create a new account with my old email I used for my Mojang account, it says I already have an account with that email. My computer is a Mac OS X, version 10.11.6. To the extent of my knowledge, I have not downloaded anything that would conflict with Minecraft. Once again, this problem started two days ago in the evening. Would really appreciate if this was fixed soon as I cannot play Minecraft anymore if it persists. I will leave another comment if anything changes, but please let me know if there is any other information you need.

I am having the issue but I am on mac. 

Investigating a little more in this bug, it turns out that the cause is the incompatibility of the software with the method of logging in Microsoft accounts. This happened to me, I use macOS 10.10, then I tried on a macOS 10.13 and it worked! So it really is a lack of support in older software versions.

Minecraft Launcher shows "Something went wrong in the login process." message when "Login with Microsoft" button is clicked. Have already migrated to Microsoft account and can't use Mojang login. Locked out of playing minecraft until this is resolved 😞

Yeah I'm also using 10.11.6 Mac OS X, and I have the exact same issue. I think it's from a new Launcher update.

Same here. It seems to be a bug from the new update. Unfortunately, it will probably be around a week for this to get fixed. Mac OS X 10.11.16

I'm having this problem too, also on Mac as many others are. Microsoft account did work yesterday, however today it has ceased to allow me to log in. As opposed to some other people here who made their account originally as a Microsoft account, mine was only migrated a few weeks ago. Therefore this appears to be affecting if not all but at least some users of a Microsoft account (either originally made that way or migrated) when on a Mac system. Please look into this! It renders many players unable to access their accounts.

Since the launcher updated it hasnt been working..

I was able to log in yesterday but all of a sudden it refuses to allow me to click the log in button for my Microsoft account. I hope this gets fixed soon, I play on MACOS

I am also on Mac OS X 10.11.6, I think this issue might only be on this version of Mac OS. I only bought the game 4 days ago, and I am already having this issue. This should be a high priority issue, so this may be fixed soon. I hope it does, because I, and all of you, cannot play until then.

It's pretty sad because I am on a server with my friends and they need my permission to add another one of our friends.

I am on mac OSX 10.11.6 too and i have the same issue. On my mac on OSX 11.0 there is no problem so it look like this bug affect only the olders versions but it's very ennoying for me and all the other mac users i imagin... It happened to me after MC Launcher updated. It makes me wonder if this problem could be prevented if you could stop automatic updates or revert the update (if there is a way, I can't find it).

I'm also on Mac OS X 10.11.6, i'm really hoping that this is a bug and they didn't just decide to silently drop support for older OS users

So I annoyingly had to upgrade my OS to big sur and when I did that the Minecraft launcher began to let me sign into my Microsoft account again. I presume mojang forgot to make compatibility with older mac OS meaning it will probably be a minute until this problem is fixed maybe.

This happened to me on mac OS 10.11.6 out of nowhere, where as I've never encountered this issue on my mac OS 10.14.6. This issue has to be resolved

this happened to me to I have a 2008 mac running OS ElCaptain so a very old version... I was playing in the morning my computer shuted of because of low battery and when I resterted it laucher updated and now I can't connect... I really hope microsoft is not getting rid of mac... If Linux users get this issue we should maybe worry... Hope this gets fixed

this is really frustrating, but it seems like a bunch a people have the problem so maybe they will fix it soon

I am also experiencing the same issue after installing the recent update When trying to login the error message "something went wrong in the login process" displays when I try to login in with my Microsoft account and when I try to login with my email and password it displays the error message " invalid email or password". I am running it on an old Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.4  Please can this issue be resolved. 

there is something wrong with the launcher update so just vote and pray for it to work

I'm having the same issue and I'm also on a Mac running 10.11.6. The game has been loading and playing fine until yesterday morning when the Launcher updated and I get the same problem, "something went wrong in the login process". I can understand the issue being caused by being on an older system but the game itself works fine. I've resigned myself to probably not being able to play the 1.18 update but up to the launcher issue the game itself has been playing fine. No changes to the computer were made on my end and I can access my MS account through the website.

Edit: I feel like the "solution" will just be "update your OS". Personally, I can't on this Mac for various reasons. And I we shouldn't have to update an entire OS just to be able to run the Launcher for a game that still runs perfectly well.

This needs to be fixed ASAP. Everyone with an older Mac is having this issue... They might as well reroll the launcher to an earlier stage where it actually worked

After the update of the launcher yesterday, September 28, 2011 on the old 10.11.6 (but supported) MacOS versions, the luncher no longer works. From the log file we see that it is an authentication error with the account service on xbox. the same xbox account on a newer version of MacOS 11.5.2 works with minecraft
To improve the situation it would be enough if they made the old version of the launcher available 😞

Updated the launcher when it said the launcher would update next time it was restarted (i.e. not an optional upgrade!!!) The launcher then immediately returns the error message "Something went wrong in the login process" No further information just a failure to login.

generally I find that those who are using outdated OS systems are those on unsupported mac models, so updating the OS is nigh on impossible

I am also having this problem on my mac OS 10.11.6, which is the most updated OS I can run on my 2014 Macbook Air. I hope this bug is fixed soon. Minecraft is about the only happy place I have right now. Not being able to get past the launcher is a real disappointment, especially with 1.18 snapshots waiting for me.

Same exact problem on two different Macs running OS 10.11.6. Launcher is no longer able to log into the new Microsoft Account (since 27.Sept 2021). After account migration it worked but then stopped (after launcher ran auto update?). Can we get an older launcher version until this is fixed? Will Minecraft/Microsoft be canceling support for older Macs? That would be terrible. My son and I are hoping for a fix soon or else we will have to cancel our subscription to Realms. 

once this is patched I might make my OS the old one again the new one takes so much memory. MOJANG CLEAN IT UP!

This may not be possible for many people here but take a suggestion. If you have another computer, perhaps a linux or a PC try going on the Minecraft official site and signing in through there

I have not tried it yet because I do not have another computer but if it works for anyone I guess it is a win right?

same for me, mac os 10.11.6. I originally had a mojang account but was told to Migrate a bit ago and had no issue doing so and then logging on. Now the launcher auto updated yesterday (no choice in the matter) and I haven't been able to log in to the launcher since. I can log in to minecraft.com fine so its not an account issue. since it wasn't an issue on the last version of the launcher, you would think it would be an easy fix, let us have the previous version of the launcher. Hopefully we get a fix soon as I am unable to use a service I have paid for.

I am also stuck at log-in. MacBook Pro 10.10.5. Odd part is, we have three accounts in this house for Minecrafting; two on this laptop. The one that is still listed as Mojang logs in just fine and I can play away on Skyblock of anywhere else. Then log-off and try to use the account listed as a Microsoft account, nope, can't even get in. Same red error box that I see you all screenshooting. What the what? So, Launcher's fine, it's just the account end of things that's bungled???? How much longer??

My account is also a Microsoft acc. I can log in to the Microsoft account on the web browser on the same MacBook, but just not in the launcher. My other son uses an iMac with 10.13.6, logging in with his microsoft account hasn't been an issue.

I got my Minecraft account I think about a month ago now. Ever since like 3 days ago I have had the same problems as listed below. I am also on a Mac, I believe it is an MAC OS X EI Captain. I don't know if that's important but everybody has been saying their model. I ALSO DON'T KNOW IF MY Minecraft account is a Mojang or a Microsoft one, I think it is a Microsoft because I got mine only month ago but then I could still be wrong. I'm not really that tech savy so if anyone knows how to fix it would mean the world if you could tell me. Thank you. 

mojang support answered my support ticket and said it should be working now. I opening the launcher and got another auto update that seems to have fixed the issue as i can now log in (mac os 10.11.6)

Just checked, Minecraft and the account still works on Lunar Client, therefore the only problem is with the launcher itself, not with accounts or running Minecraft. An auto-update for the launcher was just released, so I shall check whether that fixes the issue (at least for me).

Edit: For me, the newest launcher update fixes the issue! You all should try check to see if it fixes the issue for you too. If there are still people unable to access the launcher for whatever reason, this issue should remain reopened and of a high priority, but hopefully it fixes it for all.

Bought Minecraft in July 2021 and everything was good till 2 days ago, when I started getting this Launcher error. Chatted with a Minecraft Expert and he finally said to report a bug. We have a valid Microsoft account and can log in with it at https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/login

However, just before sending this comment, I tried Launcher one more time. It downloaded some updated files and it worked fine!

Having a similar issue. Since I migrated my mojang account over to my Microsoft account I was getting the same error massage. But, after the update to the launcher I'm getting a new massage.

"Something went wrong in the login process. If the problem persists, check your internet connection."

I tried to open a ticket for this different issue. But, it was closed claiming it was a duplicate of this ticket.

So, here I em; and waiting...

Ok. I just somehow managed to log in to my Microsoft account. However, it didn't think I bought the game (just said play demo and had the advertisement for the full version.) It also said it couldn't connect to Minecraft services. I tried to restart the launcher to see if that fixed anything, but then it went back to giving me the error when I clicked login.

Authorization in the official launcher stopped working for me a few days ago. The problem is manifested only when working under Windows 7, which has not been updated for a long time. I assume that Microsoft / Mojang has strengthened encryption (or replaced certificates) on https://authserver.mojang.com/ - Minecraft authorization server (you can check certificates and encryption yourself with your browser) and this was caused problem on Win7. I assume that the problem can be solved by installing KB4474419 and KB3033929, but I do not have the opportunity to check it out. However, under Windows 10 and also under Linux Gentoo, the launcher works properly. Under Windows 7, I went around the problem by using a launcher taken from the Curse / Twitch, which they use to run Minecraft. The only con of this launcher is the inability to log in using Microsoft account. But now I have a "fashionable, stylish" ancient launcher. The main thing is it's working. However, it's only until Micro$oft force everyone to migrate to M$-accounts.

But...I currently meet the system requirements. So when the game gets updates to 1.18 I'll lose the ability to play an older version, like 1.17 that already works fine? Simply because the Launcher will have higher system requirements?

Sorry, I do not think this should be marked as resolved and fixed. I still do not have access to the game I payed $30 for. If you are dropping support for older Macs then please at least let us know about it. I want to help all I can, but my patience is running thin. Please, if there is a fix (that does not involve 3rd party software), let me know by all means. I repeat: This issue is not fixed.

WHAT? FIXED? No it is not FIXED! I just tried to log on and this is what I got!

The audacity to clam an issue is resolved when this many people are having the SAME problem is border line out right corrupt!

It has been 3 WEEKS since this issue has raised and now we get this? Fix this, now.

ok so I just had the same issue.

what you can do when your logging into you Microsoft account is to not click onto your profile but select "add a different account" then just enter the same login as you old one so its the same account and it should work!

Yep, this happened to me too. 

They keep on forcing an update, and then the update breaks my game. This only just happened about a month ago which is why I captured a screenshot this time.
