"Something went wrong" when trying to log in

I can not log in to the Minecraft Launcher! I see the following error: "Something went wrong in the login process. If the problem persists, check your internet connection."

I have made 2 tickets about this and each time it is closed as resolved and linked to a closed ticket.

What OS are you on, and are you using a Mojang Account or a Microsoft Account?

Hello, I am still experiencing this issue as well. I am on a Mac OSX version 10.11.6. I was trying to log into my Microsoft account. I could paste my comment from the previous thread onto this one, as it is more detailed then this is, if you would like. Unfortunately I will probably not be following this issue for very much longer, as I am soon getting a newer computer that can run a working operating system.

For the past 2-3 weeks I have been persistently getting the launcher error “Something went wrong in the login process.” when trying to login with my Microsoft account on a Mac running OSX 10.11.6. I have tried all suggestions on this and other forums.

Rare instance of game actually letting me log in. Like previously, it doesn't think I have bought Minecraft (I have). Note the error at the bottom, perhaps that has something to do with it? After quitting and restarting the launcher, back to the same old Login Process error.

Forgot to mention: I attached a screenshot of my launcher screen when it let me in.

resolving because logging in via xbox app and/or xbox console companion should solve all issues exactly matching the "something went wrong" error on win10/11.

This is not resolved. Mac users continue to have no solution, as the xbox app cannot be installed.

Please start that support ticket with the following text: "Reporting from MCL-19840 to provide the requested information". This is so that our support team can find you easily and forward that to us.

 

Then include screenshots of the launcher, the launcher_log.txt file (from this location on your PC: %appdata%\.minecraft ) , your Xbox Gamertag, and information on how you own Java. Was it a direct purchase on minecraft.net or by game pass, and roughly when?

Hello 

  I have this on Linux on the latest MCL 2.3.645 and I shall follow the request to FUP support [though I did receive a prior email from support saying they were not actually doing support of troubleshooting presently, RTFM KB which is circular..].  I'll try again though.

Minor query.  Linux as well as Mac does not have the Xbox app.  Can you confirm if the app must be on the OS environment or if Xbox app might also mean a mobile device?  In any event I can confirm that performing the procedure on a mobile device does not affect the problem behaviour.

I have come across this swell but it is caused from repairing installations using Curseforge and know how to fix it:

(keep in mind I am on windows)

on the bottom of the screen a message is shown talking about migrating users, if the box is black, then the log-in will not work, but if the box is red and it still talks about migrating users then it should work

again, this works for me and might not work for you
