Today, I tried opening the minecraft launcher, and it said it was updating some files, but after a few seconds, it opened another window that said that it failed to update the launcher, I have tried opening and closing the launcher multiple times and it still showed the same thing.

Oh, i fixed the problem its fine, also I don't know where the log files are located for the launcher.
