Contrary to other people's experiences, my skin does not include the transparent pixels in the animated preview or in the skin display.
Can confirm still an issue as of 2.2.5519.
Pixels with transparency on the top skin layer do not render in the library or animated preview, but do in game.

Still affects 2.3.562 (New Windows App). As the initial reporter wasn't active for almost a year, I would like to request ownership to maintain the bug report and add repro steps.
I've been having a similar issue with my space suit, my helmet has a transparent dark overlay, but is isn't showing up when the skin is active in the preview. Active referring to when it is the currently equipped skin or when using the edit skin button. Somewhat amusingly it shows up properly in the display that shows all of the skins in your wardrobe. so this visual bug only affects the animated preview.
