Uncommon unicode displayed as (?)

Characters such as (⸮), (⁀), (⁂), and (☞) appear as ? in the development console. It also doesn't display Japanese, or other Eastern characters.

I know my computer is able to display them because they work in notepad.

I can confirm this for the latest launcher version.

I can confirm this for minecraft server 1.8.1 pre4
However, sometimes a server restart fixes the issue. But most of the time I see question marks.

Confirmed for

Confirmed for 1.6.61

Seems to be fixed for the new launcher, at least the example characters in the description.

Fixed for the ones mentioned in this report then, for any other characters please refer to MCL-5644.
