After installing the latest version of the launcher from the Microsoft Store (10.0 2.2.8542), I cannot install Minecraft for Windows from the launcher.
Clicking on Install asks me to select a drive, then nothing happens while "error" is displayed at the bottom.
I have already tried to reinstall the launcher, log in and out, and install the latest updates for Windows 10.
Thanks for your help.

Jess > Your link only has Java versions, and my issue is about Minecraft for Windows, so unfortunately it does not help with this bug.
Grey > There is no error message, all it says is "error" at the bottom (where the download bar is meant to be displayed), without any information.
I uploaded evidence of the same problem. Java edition launches fine but it seems anything linked with the Microsoft store; which I am logged into with the correct account & matching game pass, does not even try to install. I am on Windows 11.
You'll note that there is no error code, this happens with MC Dungeons also. Any further information I can help provide, let me know.
Hi there!
Could you answer few questions regarding this issue, it will help with the investigation:
Does this issue occur on the newest version of Launcher?
Are you logged in in both Xbox app, MS store, and Launcher with the same MS account?
Have you tried signing out of all your Windows Apps, and the signing in again?
Is your Windows and associated apps (Xbox app, MS store) up-to-date?
Have you tried to re-setting and/or re-registering MS store as written here?
Do you have enough free space on your disc drive?
Have you tried downloading 'Xbox Identity Provider' found here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/xbox-identity-provider/9wzdncrd1hkw#activetab=pivot:overviewtab (or in MS store)?
Do you use VPN or any of the incompatible software on machine you try to log-in?
Could you provide us with more in-depth repro steps?
This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.
I am having this same issue.
Yes, it happens on the newest version of the launcher. The only steps to reproduce are install the minecraft launcher. Select "Minecraft for Windows' in the left pane. Hit the install button. Select a drive. Then it just fails with the word error in a black bar at the bottom.

I finally got mine to work. What worked for me was going into the xbox app and changing the default install location to a different drive.
Thanks all for your comments!
This was fixed a few months ago (MCL-20795), but I'm glad you were able to work it out on your own. 🙂
Meanwhile try theWindows 7/8 launcher.Sorry, I'm forgetting BE/PE is here now.
