Launcher needs daily repair (under "App settings/Reset/repair") followed by computer restart to function.
When first turning on PC, Minecraft launcher does nothing when clicked, no response whatsoever.
Needs to open App setting, click repair, and restart computer every time.
I am not using a beta version.
JAVA is up to date build 1.8.0_401-b10
I've tried all the fixes I've found online:
-delete launcher_profiles.json
-reinstall Minecraft from the Microsoft store
-delete all mods and resourcepacks
-delete version files
-update graphic drivers
-run adware and virus scans
Forums online are loaded with users with this same complaint, and all the fixes suggested that I've found are listed above.
The official responses form Mojang/Microsoft help are to repair or reinstall... which does in fact work but only for that one-time launch, but this shouldn't be a daily requirement.
To date, the only effective "fix" is to repair the launcher and restart my PC every time.

In reply to [MCQA] Zgajak:
Have you tried installing it from website/Xbox app?
-Yes
Have you tried installing 7/8 version of the Launcher?
-Yes, since you suggested it. When the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 fails to respond as it always does, if I then launch from the old 7/8 launcher, that will then in course successfully open the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher. It's not really a "fix" for the broken 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher so much as it is a work-around to force it to respond, much like a daily repair and restart will do.
*Have you updated your Windows? *
Yes, Windows 11 Home version 10.0.22631 Build 22631
Hi!
Can you please uninstall both Launchers and install win10/11 version?
Could you also uninstall both Launcher and install win7/8 version and see if it boots correctly?

Since the time I launched the game using the 7/8 launcher, which subsequently itself launched the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher, doing so seems to have somehow fixed whatever issue was plaguing the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher, because since that one time, I have 100% of the time been able to successfully launch Minecraft using the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher straight-away without difficulty, without having to use the 7/8 Launcher, without having to repair the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher, and without having to reboot my PC. Should I discover the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher resumes malfunction and needs repairing again, I will update this reply to indicate as such, but for now, it seems to have been fixed.
Of note... the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher now has a "quick play" selection menu in the upper-right hand corner. I may have just never noticed this before... but this is the first time I've ever noticed this menu's existence. Maybe the appearance of this new menu, and the fact that the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher is now working correctly are related? This might just be my inattention to this detail until now... but it's existence surprised me... so I thought MAYBE the two are related.
Hi again!
Quick play is a new feature for Minecraft Java & Minecraft for Windows.
You can read more about it here https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/quick-play-coming-java-and-bedrock-edition
As for the other issue, is it fixed yes? You can uninstall 7/8 version of the Launcher and boot standard 10/11?

"Can you tell me if you have other users on your PC?"
=No, I am the only user on this PC.
"Are you switching accounts before booting Launcher?"
-No, there is only one Microsoft/Mojang/Minecraft account on this PC.
Could you please record and upload a video of this issue?
Please also upload your launcher_log file from .minecraft folder.

Twitch video, wherein you see the 2.16.12-1.7.2.0 launcher clicked, and nothing responds, then the 7/8 launcher is clicked and it works.

see attached launcher log
I had the same issue with me playing Minecraft Bedrock Edition, but this was before quick play was added.
For anyone running into this problem on windows 10/11:
1) Open the MS Store app (https://aka.ms/MSStoreHome) and make sure all updates are installed
2) Check to ensure all your necessary windows updates are installed
If that doesnt work:
3) Install the Xbox app (https://aka.ms/DLXboxApp) & login & see if it gives you any errors; if so, take the actions it recommends.
Then see if you're still running into the problems with the Launcher requiring frequent repair and kindly report back if you would.
Hi there!
Have you tried installing it from website/Xbox app?
Have you tried installing 7/8 version of the Launcher?
Have you updated your Windows?
Do you have a different profile on your PC on which you can install the Launcher and see if the issue occurs on it? If not, can you create a new profile?
