I can only play the latest version of Minecraft on Ubuntu 22

I can only play the latest version of Minecraft on Ubuntu 22 with the default installation in the Minecraft Launcher and cannot switch to any other version, what can I do?

I cannot install another version via the menu. The dropdown can sometimes not even be opened properly.  (I have two Ubuntu computers and both have the same problem)
The dropdown appears for a short time and then disappears again without me being able to select anything. You can see this in the last attached picture.

Thanks for your pictures, this is actually a duplicate of MCL-18387. Sorry for the initial confusion with MCL-24220, but it's really hard to determine your problem without any info.
