Drop-down menus not working on Linux using sloppy window focus

I can click on a drop down menu and see all of the options, but when I click on an option the menu disappears and nothing happens.

Hello, your Minecraft is stuck

@Léonard What do you mean?

We do not have enough information to find the cause of this issue.

In case you don't have a program to record videos, we recommend using the free recording software OBS.

It's okay I'll just use MultiMC.
A video will not provide any more information.
When in the launcher, I click on a drop-down menu, such as to change the version of an installation or to change the installation I want to play. Then, the menu appears with all of the correct options. Next, I proceed to move my cursor over the option I wish to select. Once the cursor is placed over the option I wish to select, I depress the left mouse button in an attempt to click, and thus select, the aforementioned option. In spite of my attempts, however, the desired menu option remains unselected as the menu disappears leaving the default option still selected.

I can confirm that I am also experiencing this issue, exactly as @TTNO1 described.  I, too, am on a Linux system, mine being GalliumOS 3.1.  My launcher version is 2.2.3200.

Yes, it is still very much an issue.

The Workaround for this issue is to switch to Wayland or another graphics temporarily, to select something. That might not be possible for every distibution.

Please Mojang, It’s been so long. Please fix it.

I switched to Wayland and it while it fixed the drop down for version selection on the play screen when I went into creating a new installation the release drop down was still a mess. I followed this howto on getting xfce4 running and the release drop down works fine.

Yes, switching to Wayland only solved the problem with the dropdown on the play screen. On the new installation creation screen, the problem persists.

Another problem after switching to Wayland: FPS drops to 16, sometimes 18 FPS. When in X11, there is no problem at all (usually at 120 FPS).

In other words, switching to Wayland is far from the best solution.
