Minecraft Bedrock will not update to version 1.21.120. Not through the Launcher nor through the Windows Store. Have been trying for a couple of hours now.
The patch notes for 1.21.120 are there.
Why is there no indication of the version installed in the launcher? Saying Latest version isn't good enough when problems arise because clearly the latest version isnt installed.
Why is the feedback upon hitting the Update button so vague? There either is or isn't an update available. Why the try again in an hour message. For the software I write for my clients coming back in an hour to try again would not be good enough.
Cannot play with my son on the maps on my PC as the xbox version has updated already but the PC version hasnt.
I have seen a youtube short by silentwhisperer who has said the installation has fundamentally changed. What is the way forward with this?
Thanks
Paul

No It is not resolved.
Bedrock will not update either through the Launcher nor through the Microsoft store and is still on 1.21.114
I have made sure all Windows updates are applied. I have restarted my machine a number of times.
I noticed that Mojang requested that we should avoid making posts about the same issues, so I’m commenting here to avoid redundancy. I’m also unable to update my PC version of Minecraft Bedrock Edition, and I’ve seen several other people having the issue as well. I’m hoping that adding to this post will let Mojang know that this is a somewhat widespread issue, and I hope that we will all be able to update soon.
Mine has finally updated to the correct latest version.
Worlds seem to be there.
Pinned shortcuts need to be updated as this is a new install. Got a few pop ups on launch.
Happy for this to be closed.
Hi!
Thank you for your report!
We're already resolved this issue at MCPE-230093, so I will resolve and link this ticket as a Duplicate.
I suggest also to browse through the main issue for potential fixes.

Just wanted to comment on this as the Azure outage today confused me when combined with the 1.21.120 GDK Update. I'm sure others are/were in a similar situation.
This update was somewhat game breaking for me as the Bedrock client launch shortcut on my Windows 11 taskbar stopped working and then went blank after a reboot.
Took some digging but found this buried in the changelog (This is what silentwisper's video was in reference to):
"GDK Update on Windows
Minecraft now runs on the latest GDK (Game Development Kit)
This update aligns the game with the standard distribution model on Windows platforms
File paths have been updated and upon first install load of this version of Minecraft, your existing Minecraft worlds and content will shift to: %APPDATA%\Minecraft Bedrock"
Also note for reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/minecraft/creator/documents/gdkpcprojectfolder?view=minecraft-bedrock-stable
So, effectively, now I (and everyone else) have TWO copies of our previously saved content and game worlds on disk (as everything was copied and not moved). I understand the need for redundancy with an update like this, but better communication is expected for such a large change.
