First attempt at using this launcher directly from the Downloads folder was successful. Upon closing the launcher and moving to the directory one level up (my user directory), every subsequent attempt results in a failure. I’ve attempted to re-download the launcher several times, running from the Downloads folder again and all attempts result in a failure (see attached screenshot).

We're actually already tracking this issue at [MCL-24881] The launcher does not open on Linux - Jira Service Management, so I will resolve and link this ticket as a duplicate.
I suggest also to browse through the main issue for potential fixes.
