Caused by AV, mcafee, or Avast + something else, and one with kaspersky from what we seen.
So I have to remove my security protection for minecraft? That is absurd. I am having the same problem as this guy on windows.
What antivirus you have? Because those are known to interfere with minecraft, blame the AV manufacturers
Norton, also I never had this problem with the old launcher. This new one was a terrible decision and it's making me pissed.
Norton is new, try making a exception on it(google how)
yes but it allowed every other launcher to work, that can't be the problem.
I was playing yesterday until this stupid new launcher auto updated. Is there any way I can downgrade my launcher?

Mine didnt work until I got rid of my Anti Virus which was ByteFence
ByteFence causes a different issue(a lang file or xml instead of a .jar), MCL-5546. If thats your case, follow the steps to uninstall ByteFence there
I always get a different filename.
I figured it out, it was byte fence all along. Thanks!
