The laucher fails to launch any version of minecraft

Please attach the crash report found in [.minecraft|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/guides/finding-minecraft-data-folder/]/crash-reports/crash-DATE-client.txt.

When i access .minecraft the crash reports are from 2015 and no new reports are there but every time i launch minecraft that message would appear and nothing in the .minecraft folder would appear for a crash report but the window moves positions when i click play then the game crash notification is in the bottom left with another window and sometimes the window just moves with the notification without another window (im on mac so it would be helpful if there was another folder for the new launcher from the old)

Are you playing in a different game directory? If so, look in there. Also try looking at latest.log in the logs directory.

i looked at the logs and i seen this when it tried to launch a game version [0624/180441:ERROR:LocalVersionProvider.cpp(131)] Found an unexpected file .DS_Store
A question is does an antivirus cause this because i have one called avast

i don't see how this issue is resolved i'm still getting the game crash when i launch it fix your launcher for gods sake

It seems avast is part of the cause...
I have the same problem and solved it disabling the antivirus agents before starting the launcher (see MC-119351)... but its on windows, hope this could help on MacOS!
