Lava Cauldron deals less damage than normal lava, and in Java 1.17 first snapshot it is normal damage.

I cannot reproduce this in 1.16.201. Both, normal lava and lava in cauldrons deal two hearts of damage. Also see MCPE-39356, which got fixed in 1.13 and is the same.
