context: This happened after killing the Ender Dragon and then traveling through the End Portal back to the Overworld...then back to the End for Elytra.
After attaining my loot- I headed back to my original spawn point in the End to head back to the Overworld- alas, was not to be.
What actually happened:
After entering the portal, I was immediately returned to the original End spawn platform (obsidian platform). I tried again, then again...then I tried from the North, South, East and West sides of the portal. Then I stowed all my gear into my Ender Chest and hurled myself into the void- several times, yet always spawned back in the End.
I then took to the skies in search of a randomly generated End portal to see if that resolved the issue- it did not.
I am now stuck in the End...sustaining on Chorus Fruit and Endermen Essence.
Steps to Reproduce Edited
Place bed next to the end portal in the Overworld
Click on the bed to set respawn point
Enter an End portal from the end
Return to the overworld
Observed Result
Player is returned to the End immediately after respawn in Overworld
Expected Result
Player will respawn on a nearby "safe" block in the Overworld.
UPDATE:
No- seriously...I am stuck in the End and have no recourse...
I also tried to reset my spawn point - which I could not do in this 'dimension'
as well as tried the teleport function from the command prompt-
Please advise as to a solution-

It is because end portal blocks are respawnea le, but when you go back it immediately sends you to the end again
Yes- horizontally against the outside wall, beside the stairs with the head of the bed butted up against the lava cistern...thank you for your response
So- is there a solution to this problem?
I dont mind executing commands to get out- this is my sons game and he misses his puppos (tamed wolves) lol
Good News- I have found a work around. (iPad iOS)
I joined Realms and uploaded my bugged out world, making it the default Realm. I opened another account and added myself as a friend so I could join the new Realm. My new account toon spawned in the worldspawn location, close to my homestead. I geared up and went to the End Portal location. When I got there, I destroyed the bed that was, apparently too close to the portal itself, which was linked to my original toons re-spawn point in the Overworld, that was causing the original problem.
I then logged in on my original toons account, put all my stuff in and Ender Chest and hurled myself into the void-
I respawned, in the Overworld, at my original worldspawn location. Went into the homestead and opened the Ender Chest I had there and found everything I had stashed.
Not the easiest solution- but it worked. I would definitely recommend this procedure to those who are experiencing this issue. It means pony-ing up a monthly fee, but these kids work hard on their worlds and deserve to keep it!
Thank you for your comments- hopefully Mojang is aware of this issue and coding a fix.
In closing...I'll just leave this here:
"A software bug is an error, flaw or fault in a computer program or system that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways"
We haven't been able to reproduce this issue so far. If you have a copy of the world available, you might like to upload a copy of it for investigation.
On Windows 10 you can use the Export world feature.
On Android or iOS you need to use a file explorer to navigate to Device storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds
On Xbox or Switch the only way is to upload it to a Realm, and then download the world on Windows 10 or Android/iOS. (Please do not purchase a Realms subscription just to provide a world to us - but if you have a Realm already this may be a viable option if you wish to do so.)
If the world is larger than 10MB you can upload the world to OneDrive or a similar file sharing site, and then share the link.
A potential solution is to set "spawn radius = 1". Then you will be a spawn within a 1 block radius.
In my world, the spawn is placed outside the block from the portal frame, so it can spawn in the portal blocks*.
- I came to this conclusion because I saw the animation of the teleport to the end. However, this does not always happen.
Tried that earlier- hard restart on the app and the iPad ...but the sarcasm is greatly appreciated!
Think the only solution may be to dig into the game files and revert to a different save....was hoping to avoid that scenario...
