after drinking an instant damage potion (level 1) and falling from a 24 block tower (which will normally kill you) you will take no damage. this is without armor any armour.

as I detailed in MCPE-99549,
using an item, in your case a potion, sometimes prevents fall damage. My story:
I fell 100 blocks (exactly), and in mid air ate a golden_apple when I hit the ground I took no fall damage at all. this also happened in rain as I aimed a riptide III trident up in the air. halfway through priming I hit the ground and did not take fall damage.
Does MCPE-64851 describe your issue?
