This report is for v0.13.1 alpha (for iPad) which for some reason I cannot select in the issue report form. V0.13.1 alpha is the version currently offered on the Apple AppStore for iPads.
The chat feature (text input) does not work anymore.
The text input field is not shown and the "right arrow" button to confirm the text is not shown either. Most of the scene is not shown either (just a residual part on the right). Please see the attached screenshot.
This still worked in v0.12.3!
I realise that my iOS 7.1.1 is nowhere near the current version, but Minecraft PE is advertised as working with "iOS 5.1.1 or later".
I don't think my iPad 2 can run a newer version efficiently, so I kindly ask that the chat feature is repaired for versions older than iOS8.
Remember that the chat feature worked with v0.12.3 and earlier and only versions after that introduced the bug.
I paid for Minecraft PE and am really frustrated that an update broke an important feature.

Apologies, I saw MCP-11812 but since its description said "...you cannot see what you are typing until you are done and hit the Back button." and I believed I could not make any input at all, I thought it was a different issue.
I just found out that I can type blindly and by pressing "Return" on the keyboard, followed by the "Back" button, the text is accepted. That works as a solution for me.
May I ask why MCPE-11812 has not been assigned to anyone yet?
It has been reported almost two months ago.
P.S.: I wrote a new ticket because my original one was never attended to by anyone and I thought the reason could be that I framed it around the inability to log in at a server. I could relate to the idea that Minecraft PE developers thought that the bug was not theirs to fix.
