No visible text when typing in chat

When typing in chat you cannot see what you are typing until you are done and hit the Back button. I'm not sure if this is related to the backspace issue mcpe-11654 or if it is separate keyboard related issue

Thanks for posting as a new ticket @unknown and for the screenshots. Can you try a test for me? When typing in chat, type §4test (or §4 followed by whatever text) and see if you can see red text in the bar where text should be appearing. This way we can see if for some strange reason the text in the chat typing bar was appearing but was black or if nothing's appearing at all.

Had to do a few google searches for the § symbol, but did find it. §4text doesn't show anything while I type, but after hitting return and Back, I do get red text on the screen instead of white.

The same thing has been happening for me, though I have to press return to send the message. I play on iOS 9 iPad 2.

Ok sorry. I was unaware of that. And this ticket is resolved as "awaiting response". So it is not closed. Normally it would be automatically reopened by a robot by a comment in this case it didn't happen.

Should the status still be "Awaiting response" now that I have confirmed that the only version available to certain iOS users still exhibits the problem?

There is this new complication that the chat button cannot be used anymore to look at the chat history. This part of the functionality was working even when the "no typing feedback" problem already existed. So technically, we are dealing with a new bug whose impact is arguably worse, because now one either gets a message as it flies across the screen, or it will be gone forever. In comparison, the "no visible text when typing" bug has a workaround which is "type without visual feedback".

Is there any chance that this bug will be fixed or is every MPE player expected to be able to upgrade to the latest iOS version?

AFAIC, the bug should have been fixed a long time ago, when our iOS versions were still current, or at least not very much outdated.
