Player position missing on maps

This is working as intended

As pointed out by @unknown you need to add a compass to the map with an anvil.

It is not a bug. Maps are different from PC version. If you add a compass in the opened map on the anvil will show where you are. If you add 8 papers in the opened map on the anvil will zoom the map.
