The Bug
When you look around the cave until you reach the bottom of the new cave, you'll notice that the bedrock is exposed and not covered by stone, like it should on Java. (MC-214844)

Seems fixed to me in 1.17.0.52. I'm now finding lava generating around Y=-55 that covers the bedrock.
