I was playing minecraft 1.16 and backed up my existing worlds to my PC, uninstalled minecraft, enrolled in the beta, re-installed minecraft, and started playing. I would guess that I must have started playing with worlds being stored on application. I installed some resource packs and then found that my beta world has disappeared! At the time, I thought that it had somehow caused minecraft to over-write my beta world in some way, but now I realize that you can toggle between application and external storage via your profile, so had I known this, I could have continued to play that world. Not knowing/remembering about the toggle and wanting to report the problem, I deleted the minecraft app and reinstalled it, causing those application-stored worlds to be lost. sigh.
Steps to reproduce:
Play MCPE 1.16 with worlds stored externally
uninstall MCPE 1.16
Install MCPE Beta 1.17.05.58
Create world stored on application
Import resource packs
See that the old worlds (stored externally) are now showing up on the worlds screen instead of the previous world.
Expected Outcome
Importing a resource pack should have no effect on worlds view, OR if it does, there needs to be a prompt to check for disappeared worlds on your other kind of storage
Actual Outcome:
Importing a resource pack caused minecraft to change the world view screen from application saved worlds to internally saved worlds without notice, which made me think minecraft had deleted my worlds, leading me to delete minecraft and reinstall it to see if it would happen again, thus truly deleting my world in the process.
