Realms list and Marketplace fail to load after timing out

When timing out of a world that requires a connection, the realms list and market place do not load when returning to the main menu.

The first 4 steps are the same as a bug I have previously reported. Simply get the game to timeout. MCPE-133775

Steps to reproduce bug:

  1. Join a Realm (tested on a Realm I own)

  2. Exit the game without closing (go to homescreen, or lock the device)

  3. Open the game and see "Connection timed out. Connection Lost"

  4. Click "OK" and it will return to the main menu

  5. Click "Play"(6) or "Marketplace"(7)

  6. Observe the Realms list in a constant loading state saying "Fetching Realms..."

  7. Observe the Marketplace attempting to load and then showing a connection error.

I should mention this was also a bug in 1.16

This has the same root cause as MCPE-110396, MCPE-109879, MCPE-103893, and MCPE-19393: if you switch from Minecraft to another app and back, then everything that depends on network connectivity breaks. The only way to restore any connection-dependent functionality is to fully close and reopen the software.

No other software I know has this limitation. For example, if I switch out of the the gmail app on my phone to use messages or discord, or if I switch out of a browser window with my e-mail loaded on my computer, or if I go from the Nintendo Switch Online app to the home screen on my Switch, and then go back into any of those apps/windows, they work fine! I am able to reconnect to whatever internet-dependent task I was doing. Only Minecraft requires you to completely close the app and go through the sometimes excessively long startup process in order to regain access to online content or multiplayer games.

As of 1.17.11 Hotfix, I cannot reproduce this on Windows 10, but I can reproduce on iOS and Nintendo Switch. Strangely, after switching to the home screen and back, the Friends and Servers lists load (MCPE-110396 is fixed), but Realms and the Marketplace do not.

This appears to have been fixed, not sure which version it was fixed in, but step 3 can't be reproduced in v1.17.41 on iOS

Thanks for the update. I'll resolve the report.
