Sound the alarm! achievement not popping

Potential Workaround

According to a post on the r/mojira subreddit, a bed may be required nearby for the achievement to be granted.

Sound the alarm! Achievement on Xbox not popping at all.

I have triggered several raids in several different worlds on both my world and a friends and it hasn't worked when I rang the bell despite being surrounded by enemies. I did this, before the start of the raid, during AND after. None of which worked.

I then tried hitting villagers so That I was the hostile enemy and ringing the bell which also did not work.

I have waited until night time and gathered many hostile mobs behind me before ringing the bell several times which also didn't work. I let the hostile mobs hurt/kill villagers to be on the safe side also.

I attacked iron golem and whilst he was following me, tried to ring the bell. Again, not working.

I tried crafting my own bells and trying all of the above which didn't work.

this is an achievement I have been trying to get for over a year and it hasn't worked in 1.15, 1.16 or 1.17 for me and it's the only achievement I've had any trouble completing.

C'mon Mojang! Fix this trouble.

Can confirm presence up until 1.17.30.21 beta, have not tried on 1.17.30.22, but I assume it's still there, as there was nothing in the changelog regarding this problem.

I think it might be in versions prior to 1.17.x - I couldn't get it on 1.16, when I started playing Bedrock.

I play on Android, so it's not platform-specific.

Have had the same issue for quite a while on PS4, it's one of the few trophies I haven't been able to unlock because it never works. Hope it gets fixed!

Just wanted to add, I have tried this again as recently as yesterday! Fully updated to 1.17+. Still NOT WORKING.

Worked on 1.17.30.22 beta for me today:

  • World was generated on this version of the beta.

  • Survival mode, normal difficulty.

  • Seed -6643344

  • Very large desert village visited during the morning.  The enemy was numerous husk zombies.

  • The bell hung 1 block over the ground from an inverted U-shaped sandstone construction, and was not associated with any other building or structure.

  • I was walking home and not fighting the zombies.  I simply rang the bell to see if anything would happen.

To my surprise the achievement popped up on top of the screen.

I'm not sure if this can be described as completely fixed - old worlds played on the same beta version did not trigger the achievement (however, the enemies were different - strays, skeletons, normal zombies, pillagers, etc.).

I think this achievement only works for desert villages, because I've only seen youtubers and other people doing it in desert villages and obtaining it. I will try and update

Attention! I managed to get this achievement and my hypothesis was right. It only worked in a desert village. You can see the achievement popping up in a desert village.

Reddit post:

There needs to be a bed nearby the bell and villager. I did a test and got this achievement without being in a village and verified a bed is required. You only need a bed a bell and a villager that is being attacked by a hostile mob. I think they all need to be within 16 blocks of each other. You will see a green particle effect from the bell when you place the bed near it when a villager is present. That may mean the specific bed villager and bell need to be linked for the achievement to work.

I think a desert village works better because it is more compact and more likely to have beds close to the bell. I would bet if you collected all the beds in any village with a bell and placed them back down around the bell you could get this achievement to pop easily. Wait for the night time and ring the bell when the villagers are getting attacked in their beds.

I tried getting this achievement, since the version 1.16 when I created my world that I still have in my World select screen. I have watched multible tutorial videos that describe how to get it. I haven't been able to get it up until this day. I tried the weirdest thing. From lurring a zombie into a village, triggering a raid with bad Omen or punching a Irongolem and then rightclicking the a bell at the same time the Irongolem was hitting me. Nothing worked for me so far. This achievement is one of the last 4 I am missing, despite it seming so easy, because of this bug it is one of the hardest ones to get.
