I created Nether Portal A (NPA) at House A and have done extensive adventuring in the Nether from there.
After establishing a new location – House B --, I built a second nether portal — Nether Portal B (NPB)
After using NPB for the first time, I arrived in the Nether in the same location that I arrived from NPA (not sure if this is normal behavior). When I went back through the portal, I was delivered to NPA.
I later destroyed NPA, traveled back to House B and went through NPB to test it. My expectation was that, since I had destroyed NPA, it would return me to NPB when I exited the Nether.
Instead, the game generated Nether Portal C near House A (but not in the original location of NPA). On the upside, 18 free obsidian blocks.
The distance between House A and House B is quite considerable. The are on opposite sides of an ocean and require almost a full day in a boat to travel between them.

Interesting. That is surely an unintended behavior because the game has no reason to correlate NPA and NPB if there is such a long distance between them so it needs to generate NPC.

My nether did exactly this also. Also_, since .14 at least (not sure ,15) my nether return would spit me out into the overworld miles away from entry portal, in a game generated portal. I would need to travel random distances away to gain new nether accesses, winding up at NPA after travelling FARTHER away than a NPB which DID give me a new access.. I never come back out the portal I build, with the exception of a brand new portal, which did allow a return to my constructed portal,, but I'm not sure if I got a new nether/ when I arrived, I had certainly chopped up the place a little, but I may have managed to wander to the place and die rather than use the now existing portal. I'm skiddish in the nether, fearing the loss of my new diamond enchanted armor, so have not done enough playing to know what the portals are up to now. I've relegated myself to finding diamonds, building skyway, and trying to figure out slime accrual/ I would love a functioning farm, but have yet to do more than chop up some random finds, keeping me in leads but out of sticky piston and slimeblock mechanics.
