This affects 1.21.93 on iOS. In fact the issue has been there for like years. At first I thought Mojang wanted to punish players for using classic skins. But if not, please fix it.
This still affects 1.21.81. In fact it became far worse as of 1.21.80. My iPad becomes alarmingly hot only after 5 minutes or so.
@Mega_Spud: The game doesn’t crash though…?
I don’t know the exact version the issue started manifesting, but it definitely didn’t happen on 1.21.5x or earlier. On older versions the game drained much less power, and the battery didn’t overheat.
I also confirmed that turning WiFi off could indeed work around the issue. But it’s of course not a viable option because obviously one cannot play the game on a server without network access.
I can confirm this issue on M1 iPad Pro (11-inch, 3rd generation), MCBE 1.21.72, iPadOS 18.3.2. MCBE drains 50% of the battery within just an hour, and no other applications do that.
I play MCBE exclusively on a BDS server at the moment, so at first I thought it was due to excessive network activity caused by the now-enforced “server-auth-with-rewind” mode. But I heard from other iOS users that the problem also happens while playing on a singleplayer world, apparently disproving my theory.
@@unknown Wow, that worked... I genuinely didn't think of that!
So the change was perhaps intentional? I found it very confusing though.
Does anyone still experience this issue on 1.19.63? It wasn't mentioned in its release note but somehow I cannot reproduce it any longer.
Still affects 1.19.63. Sea lanterns can be powered like solid blocks but comparators treat them like transparent blocks. That is, comparators can't read the state of containers through sea lanterns.
I can confirm some, only some, of issues described in this ticket on 1.19.62 iOS client connecting to BDS of the same version. As far as I know this only affects multiplayer game.
Steps to reproduce:
Have at least one player other than you join a server. You must not be the first player joining the server to experience the issue.
Make sure you have a custom skin.
Join the server.
Open the player list. You'll see two entries with your gamertag appearing in the list, one with your player icon and one without.
Open the inventory. You'll see yourself as Steve, i.e. you join without your custom skin.
Ask someone on the server to confirm that you are Steve indeed.
Expected behavior:
No duplicate entries should be in the player list.
If you have a skin, it should be rendered as your avatar instead of Steve or Alex.
Confirmed to be affecting 1.19.50 on iOS.
Still affects 1.19.41 (iOS)
Still an issue on 1.19.41 (iOS)
However, you don't need to find a new piglin to fix it. If you throw another ingot at the piglin, it won't pick it up but will start examining the ingot you previously threw.
Confirmed on 1.19.2 / iOS.
Still affects 1.19.0 / iOS.
Still affects 1.19.0 / iOS.
Confirmed on 1.18.31 (iOS).
The attached test world
[media]has a 4 blocks deep pool of water in an Ocean biome. You can see Drowned spawning in the pool. This is unexpected because the sunlight level of the air above the pool is 15, and a single layer of water reduces the light level by 2, so the bottom layer of the pool should have light level 7. Drowned should only spawn at light level 0 but they spawn regardless.
Still affects 1.18.31 (iOS).
Partly affects 1.18.31:
Sweet Berry Bush breaks instantly, unless its not at the first growth stage. (Not fixed)
Bamboo breaks instantly with a sword, even with a wooden one. It doesn't break instantly with a bare hand. (Fixed)
Scaffolding breaks instantly with a golden, diamond, or a netherite axe, but doesn't break instantly with any other tools or a bare hand. (Not fixed, or WAI)
The third case is somewhat convoluted. IIRC we couldn't instabreak scaffolding with any tools whatsoever in the past, but now we can do it with a non-enchanted golden axe or better ones. Devs must have done something about this. While there is still a disparity with Java in this matter, it makes sense that axes can break it faster than other tools because it's made of a wood-like material. This could be WAI.
Still affects 1.18.31.
Okay, I made an addon to reproduce the issue. But I can’t seem to attach the file via “Edit Report”. I’m going to update the description after posting this.
