Upon using a piston to displace a water melon or pumpkin, the item is to fall into the hopper and filter down into the chest below that is properly attached. But what is happening is the item is resting on top of the hopper(s) and not following through entering the hopper and then entering the chest. This has been tested many times.

Are the items actually over the hoppers or are they on the blocks with the stems? From the screenshots it appears they are over the stems, and so won't be picked up by the hoppers.

Resolving as duplicate of MCPE-147084 which is only different in name from this report. Please do not duplicate your own reports.
As other commenters have noted, the issue here is clearly that the items are not over the hoppers, they are sitting on blocks with pumpkin/melon steps. Pistons only push items off of blocks, they do not launch items across a block to the next.
Could you please provide steps to reproduce this issue?
