This bug actually creates phantom water.
I would tweak the report a bit, since it is really possible to reproduce the "duplication" of water only 1 time (in fact, duplicating water will not work this way, since the water becomes phantom).

For the best reproduction of the problem, it is better to also disable "Fancy Bubbles". And also after performing the playback steps (indicated in the report), also right-click to remove the phantom water.

When removing water with bubbles using dispenser and sponges, created phantom water

When removing water with bubbles (from soul sand or magma) using dispenser and sponges, the water becomes phantom and disappears when interacting (by right-clicking) and also when reloading the world.

Steps to reproduce 1:

  1. Turn off "Fancy Bubbles" for better playback.

  2. Place soul sand or magma block.

  3. Place water on top of the soul sand or magma block.

  4. Place a dispenser next to the water.

  5. Place an empty bucket inside the dispenser.

  6. Activate the dispenser.

  7. Right click on the water or reload the world.

Steps to reproduce 2:

  1. Turn off "Fancy Bubbles" for better playback.

  2. Place soul sand or magma block.

  3. Place water on top of the soul sand or magma block (place the water so that it flows).

  4. Try to remove the water using a sponge (place the sponge near the flowing water).

  5. Right click on the water or reload the world.

Observed results:

During playback, you created "phantom" water.

Expected results:

Blocks of water will simply be removed.
