Mojang has decided to remove the ability for Structure Voids to connect to fences and other blocks, is this a bug? It was quite a useful feature for making paths and decorations, Please add this feature back!

When this was added to the game a while ago, I honestly didn't think it was something intended by the developers, might have even been a glitch they never noticed. BUT whatever this feature is, it seriously added so much more variety to me and many of my friends' building style. We have used this feature so much that when you hold the structure void, the city is covered in red lines. Because Minecraft is so blocky, this feature added a lot more variety in shapes that we can use for architecture. This is huge for builders and makes me so sad that it's been removed. Like the creeper, glitches sometimes are so great they become features, I REALLY hope this gets added back in and I hope the feature can be added to Java edition in some form as well since it was only on Bedrock.
However, these blocks must work like air. Therefore, I believe that this is WAI.
The "Debug Stick" tool was created specifically for such block positions in the Java version, and therefore such a "function" will never be added to the Java version.
Thank you for your report!

I made a similar post not knowing you made a post about the same issue, in my post I stated that fences and walls don't connect to structure voids and barriers anymore. and any previous versions of the game before 1.18.0 they would connect. Fortunately, I still have structure voids and barriers still connected to my walls and fences before 1.18.0. the unfortunate part, however, is that I have to be extra cautious about breaking them or going to a new version or me duplicating the world, etc. otherwise I might lose them forever. I use this quite a lot on my builds and I know way more people that use it more than me and are heavily reliant on making their builds with this feature. I don't believe this was intentionally taken out of the game, cause if it was then why are there blocks in my world still connected? I hope this gets resolved soon; for not just me, but for all the people that are upset about this and want it back.
