Phantoms spawn on Mushroom Island

Can you provide a seed and coordinates that the issue occurs on?

And when the world was generated?

seed: 1404986100
coordinates: not sure as I've been attacked by them all over the island, recent examples include: around -100, 175; 50, 150; -100, 300; to name a few
date generated: 27-11-2018

and I should probably mention I've been having this problem a bit longer than just those two updates, I regrettably don't know exactly when it started though.

If there is land that is not within the mushroom island biome within about 60 blocks of you then they could be spawning there. Phantoms spawn over the same range as other monsters and instantly teleport over the player’s head. So it’s not enough to just be standing on the mushroom island, to block them from spawning.

That seems like an oversight...
but that still doesn't explain it, because it also happens deep inland of my island.

Maybe its to do with the 3D biomes added in 1.18
They might be spawning in a cave biome below the island? Then being instantly teleported to above your head...

Phantoms only spawn on the surface and teleport. They don't spawn underground.

The seed and coordinates provided do not generate a mushroom island in 1.18. Could we get a copy of the world save to examine? If the file is too large to attach here you may upload it to a file sharing site and give the link.

To reproduce what I described in a previous comment (phantoms spawning over the player on a mushroom island based on nearby surfaces), generate a world with seed 1790608912 in 1.18 and teleport to 11430, 63, 4400.

Can you please provide the world in which this issue can be observed?
