Having the same issue. I read somewhere the strider had to travel on 50 source blocks, so ran a strider around on a lake under my base and it didn’t work. Another source seemed to indicate that it had to be a distance of 50 meters, so going to try making a tunnel of lava manually to see if it works. 

Does it work if you ride the strider far away from the starting point and then dismount? It's possible the criteria is based on distance from starting point and so riding around the same area over and over might not qualify.

Cleaning up old tickets: This ticket had been set to 'Awaiting Response', but has not received a response from the reporter (~3 months+) so is being closed as Incomplete.
