Occurring on a multiplayer Realm, and a separate multiplayer world not on realm!
The XP we get from smelting is giving us WAY LESS xp than it should! It seems XP is not being generated, or not being stored by furnaces (including blast & smoker).
Smelting multiple stacks of meat, ores, blocks, or even kelp, barely yields enough xp for ONE level increase! Previously, we could get 10-15 levels smelting the same amounts!
Recreate:
Place chest, into hopper, into furnace (or smoker), that is emptied by another hopper into a chest!
Smelt 2-3 stacks of raw cod.
Lock the furnace and smelt another piece of cod.
Remove the last piece of cod and absorb the stored XP!
Results:
The XP is DRASTICALLY lower than it should be! XP is either not being generated or not being stored!
Expected results:
The player should be getting XP for each item smelted, stored as XP in the furnace! It seems XP is not being stored or maybe not being generated!

Ok before I search for exact numbers, can you confirm if the XP has been nerfed or changed in recent patches or updates?
I'm not sure what you mean by nerfed, but there was a bug that caused the accumulated XP in a furnace to not be cleared when the item was removed. That bug was recently fixed so that the XP does not get used over and over.
Cleaning up old tickets: This ticket had been set to 'Awaiting Response', but has not received a response from the reporter (~3 months+) so is being closed as Incomplete. If you feel this is still a valid issue then please comment, or create a new ticket following the Issue Guidelines which includes steps to reproduce the problem.

Please be precise about the number and type of items you are smelting and exactly how many levels you gain (from Level 0 would be best).
Smelting 3 stacks = 192 raw cod should grant 192 x .35 XP = 67.2, which is enough to go from level 0 to almost 6. If you start at a higher level you won't go up as fast.
Note, once you take the item out of the furnace, the stored XP will reset to 0 and you will need smelt many items again to gain more XP.
