Hello everyone !
First i am playing on a Galaxy Note3 (6.0.1 custom rom) And Nvidia Shield K1 tablet (6.0.1 vanilla). I have same problem on those devices with minecraft vanilla (no mods, no hacks, no root) on the very last version available 0.15.1 (i do updates).
I have a big problem with my save. Actually i have found two close mob generator and created a double experience farm structure like we can find here and there on youtube. The problem is that i afked the game near those spawners and mobs has been stacked for some minutes. When i came back to the game i couldn't attack anymore because of lag.
I tried disabling all fancy options to reduce the lag and even managed to remove an enchant table (with booshelf arround) and a nether portal that were nearby to minimize visual effects. At first i was playing on my phone but i copied my save game to my more powerful tablet but it does not change anything.
When the game is lagging it only recognize long press on screen (i can only destroy blocks). But if i tap to the screen to attack it recognize it as small movements arround. It does not attack. I even tried to pair my Shield Controller to use the gamepad button to attack but still no effect at this state of the game. So i couldn't reduce the number of mobs by my own.
Finaly i tried to move very far to change chunk so maybe all those mobs would be "deleted" after few time but it did not change anything (or i did it wrong?). So i came back to the place and here is the save game :

@unknown I loaded your world onto my Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920W8), Android 5.1.1 and none of the world generates. I get all sky. I can hear a sound that might be many footsteps. I changed the difficulty to peaceful and the sound did not stop, suggesting they are not hostile mobs. I changed the game to creative and I cannot interact with anything. Regrets, but I recommend reverting to a backup copy of your world before this issue had appeared.

I see. I have older save of my world fortunately. But what about the issue about attacking that is impossible when lagging, can this be fixed? Actual save may have too much spawned zombies mob so it does not load anymore but maybe i can provide you an "in between" state ? I can reload this world and spawn enought mobs to be able to reproduce the bug while the device should be able to generate world too. What do you think ?

Isn't there a hostile mob limit per loaded chunk? I seem to remember seeing this on the wiki years ago, now I can't find it. I want to say it was 256. And btw: that is an insane number for most mobile devices.

Indeed if this limit is true this is far from actual devices capabilities. The game starts lagging on my Shield tablet at arround 100 mobs... I may upload later a save with a more playable state. I created some ugency mecanism to crush mobs when device starts to be overwhelmed. So tell me if it's needed or no for devs purposes.

Confirming that I have just replicated this issue on version 1.0.0 with an iPad Air 2 with iOS 10.0.2.
Stood by a skeleton spawner with water/river underneath flowing down into a kill pit (simple mob grinder). When I went down to the pit, things got increasingly more laggy until I was with the skeletons at the bottom of the pit. Everything lagged extremely, and the UI stopped painting; instead I only see sky - which gets dark and light with the day cycle. I can make my sword do the attack motion if I press and hold, but it never kills any skeletons. If I press too long, it ends up destroying a block.
It seems I can move around in a limited fashion, but can't see where I am due to the lack of screen painting. Have tried setting all the video parameters to the lowest settings and that did not help.
Regrettably I have no backup of the world (iOS doesn't make it easy) and am in survival mode with no cheats. Hoping to not have to enable cheats to get out of this situation but can't think of any workarounds.

Further detail on this. I edited my player location while offline to get out of the lagging chunk. Upon returning to play, it seems the skeletons in the offending chunk never despawn regardless of what action I take or how far away from the chunk I travel. It seems permanently lagged.

I'm back to report that I have been able to reproduce this behavior in Minecraft Windows 10 Edition. Any time this happens, the world (or at least playing near that chunk) becomes unplayable. Suggest that someone look at the mob limit code. Are the limits realistic?
