MCPE-164124

Mobs do not mele attack targets which are on another height level

Steps to reproduce

  1. Load

[media]
  1. . It contains villagers and zombies trapped next to each other, as well as a trapped zombie and vindicator that the player can walk up to.

  2. Observe the zombies and villagers. Walk up to the zombie and vindicator where there are openings.

Expected results

The zombies attack the villagers. The zombie and vindicator attack you when you stand on the trapdoor in front of them.

Observed results

None of the mobs attack.

Since this update when I try and zombify a villager the zombies won't react when they are on another height level. See attached image which was taken in survival where you see that two zombies both won't attack the villager while it is not on the same height level. This bug breaks all villager farms which use zombification to get better prices from the villagers.

This may be a result of the way that MCPE-55790 was fixed. It seems that now mobs will not attack if any block covers any part of the area between them and their target. When you or a villager stands at a different height from a hostile mob, even just standing on a trapdoor, the collision box of the block you or the mob stands on intersects the vector from the mob's foot to yours or the villager's, or from the mob's head to yours or the villager's.
