The problem was that before you could punch the air in the new controls and now you can't

That makes a lot of difference, because on mobile you can't do that. It's a function that doesn't exist on the cell phone, it only exists on the computer.

Tap in the air is a function that was excluded from the new touch controls and I wanted them to come back

Could you give some more information about how this is affecting gameplay, please?

It affects multiplayer, when you need to wave to your friend, because in the mobile version you can only punch if you have a block in your sights, but in the air it doesn't hit
