After taming a horse in a new creative flat world, the game would not let me place a saddle or armor on the horse. Opening the horse GUI and tapping the saddle or armor in my inventory did nothing. Same was observed when taming a donkey.
I expected the saddle and armor to be applied to the horse.

I have had the same problem but in a new survival world in 16.0 build 1. After I tamed the horse I couldn't equip the saddle or armor. The only way I could finally get them on was to make a lead & attach it to a fence post, then I was able to open the horses inventory.
Same on Sony Xperia Z4 tablet (android 6.1, MCPE v0.15.90.2), I´m not able put saddle or armor. Also it´s happen to me when I put cactus in furnace then result was diamod armor 🙂
